About us

Welcome to the Amsterdam Cannabis College

Founded in 1998 by a dedicated team of Cannabis activists, the Amsterdam Cannabis College is dedicated to providing accurate and objective information about the Cannabis plant.

It is our mission to educate and provide a safe environment for cannabis enthousiasts around the world.

Founded in 1998, the Amsterdam Cannabis College teaches and advises the public by providing accurate and objective information about the Cannabis sativa L. plant and its many uses.

We offer advice and courses both on and offline on the cultivation and applications of Cannabis. These can be tailored for all levels of experience, including absolute beginners! Nailed the basics? Explore more specialised programs, focused on recreational, medicinal, industrial, and cultural purposes.

Our team gladly help visitors to educate themselves, and spread truthful information to their friends, their parents and their children’s children. The field of Cannabis is in constant evolution. We feel it is our duty to provide others with the information they need.

Our History

The Amsterdam Cannabis College has been educating since 1998.

In 1997, philanthropic Dutchman Henk Poncin and a few members of a group known as the “Green Prisoners Release”, who had been campaigning for the freedom to cultivate cannabis, decided to do their community a service. Together they created a public information centre devoted to all the beneficial aspects of the beautiful Cannabis sativa L. plant. After a year of hard work and renovation, the new information centre and its flourishing organic cannabis garden were housed in a monument-status canal house in the heart of Amsterdam.

Our Venue

The Amsterdam Cannabis College

The Cannabis College is located on the bottom two floors of a 17th Century canal house, itself part of a UNESCO world heritage site monument in the heart of Amsterdam’s Red Light District. Admission is free and all are welcome, whether a cannabis user or not.

Accessibility

Our inclusion in the UNESCO world heritage list prevents any structural changes to the front of the building. We are therefore unfortunately unable to make the Cannabis College wheelchair accessible.

Photography

Amateur photography and video filming are permitted. Professional or commercial filming is permitted with written agreement of our Terms & Conditions. Please contact us to arrange this.

Events

The Amsterdam Cannabis College as an event location

The College promotes activism and strives to provide an open venue in which to host private and public gatherings. We also attempt to maintain a visual presence in the community by attending legalisation rallies and public demonstrations, court cases, and of course Cannabis festivals and competitions. Please contact us if you are interested in holding your meeting or training session at the College. The space can be reserved for events during or after business hours, and special group rates are available. If you are organising a hemp or cannabis event that you would like the Cannabis College to be involved with, please also contact us to discuss this.
